Monument and Mosaic

A monument to those who died in the world war stands beside the Catholic church. A Turul sits atop a polished stone block; densely engraved names are part of the monument’s design. A mosaic by József Molnár is located in the town hall’s ceremonial hall. It depicts Saint Martin and measures 5 × 3.5 metres. These dimensions make the work a large-scale image. While the Turul and inscription define the motif of the monument, the depiction of the saint takes centre stage in the mosaic.
