The remains of two Roman watchtowers were discovered in the area during construction work on Route 6. The towers were built of wood in the second half of the 4th century, had tiled roofs and were surrounded by ditches.

A Roman milestone found at kilometer 75.6 of the main road indicates a distance of 51 miles from Aquincum and dates from the reign of Emperor Gordianus in AD 239.
