Parasporos Beach is on the western side of Paros, just outside Paroikia. Its wide sandy shore is dotted with bushy tamarisk trees; the water is crystal clear and very clean, and the beach offers an unobstructed view of the Aegean Sea. Numerous sun loungers and parasols are also part of the beach scene. As availability may change, check before your visit if necessary whether sun loungers and parasols will be available on your travel date.

The bus takes you as far as the public road, not all the way to the beach. Parasporos Beach is also accessible by private transport. On Paros, Parasporos is also easy to reach by car or bicycle. Check the timetable for your travel date if you are arriving by bus.
Cultural history on Paros
Panagia Ekatontapiliani in Parikia is one of Greece’s most important early Christian monuments. In the southern part of the church is the ancient baptistery, dating from the 4th century and considered the oldest and best-preserved baptistery in the Orthodox East. Ekatontapiliani also houses the Byzantine Museum of Parikia, with rare icons, wood carvings and other religious relics from the Byzantine era and the period of Ottoman rule.
The Kastro of Parikia also tells the story of the island’s architectural history: it preserves the ruins of a Venetian castle built from columns taken from ancient temples and other architectural elements. In Lefkes stands Agia Triada, a listed church built from Parian marble in 1835. The three-aisled basilica has a raised central nave and two bell towers. The two sites offer contrasting architectural features: reused elements of a castle complex here, and a church with a clearly defined basilica layout there.
Nature and events on Paros
The Paros Environmental and Cultural Park has both organised and unspoilt beaches, as well as a seven-kilometre network of hiking trails. Its amphitheatre has 700 seats for concerts and performances. Since 2009, the Environmental and Cultural Park of the Municipality of Paros has organised “Festival at the Park”, a summer programme of cultural, sporting and environmental events. While the trail network makes it possible to get active outdoors, the amphitheatre hosts events with a fixed seating capacity. Check the programme for your travel dates for specific event times.
Another nature attraction on Paros is the Butterfly Valley, a rare habitat for Jersey tiger moths. There, the moths can be seen in large numbers on tree trunks. Guided walking tours, nature walks and cycling tours are organised for international visitors in Aliki, the island’s most important wetland. Paros therefore offers a variety of nature experiences: the park’s trails and beaches, the habitat in Butterfly Valley, and the organised activities in Aliki.
When looking for a holiday apartment, consider comparing your travel interests: the nearby beach at Parasporos offers a coastal focus, while buildings, nature activities and events are part of the wider context of Paros. Decide which of these themes you want to shape your trip most, and tailor your search to the kind of holiday you have in mind.
