Xiropigado is a coastal fishing village. Its varied shoreline, striking mountain setting, recurring festivals and water sports give the place several facets. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in a coastal town, you can decide whether to focus primarily on the scenery, cultural events or active days when considering Xiropigado.

Location by the mountain and the Arcadian Riviera

Xiropigado lies at the foot of the northeastern side of Mount Zavitsa and on the edge of Parnon. The village is also on the Argos–Leonidio road, known as the Arcadian Riviera. This means the village can be described in terms of more than its coastal location: Zavitsa and Parnon identify its mountain setting, while the road provides another specific point of reference. These are useful clues for planning your holiday if you are looking for a coastal town whose landscape is also shaped by a mountain and a named road.

A shoreline of pebbles, rocks and sand

An organised beach with small white pebbles stretches along Xiropigado. Near the coast, there are also rocks with small caves, as well as small, hard-to-reach sandy beaches. The village’s shoreline therefore features more than one kind of beach: pebbles, rocks and hard-to-reach sand each add a different character. If the shoreline is important to your choice of destination, it is worth considering these features separately. The small sandy beaches are particularly defined by their difficult access; the organised pebble beach is a distinct type of shoreline.

Anavalos nearby

Nearby is Anavalos, an underwater freshwater spring. It is five kilometres from the municipality of Xiropigado, on the municipal boundary and on the road towards Argolida. As a landscape feature, Anavalos differs from the coastal features in the village: here, the focus is on freshwater and the underwater spring. This natural landmark thus adds a different landscape feature to the coastal description.

Festivals with different focuses

Xiropigado’s annual olive festival is organised by the local cultural association, and olive oil and olive dishes are offered there. Another event, Kalolimano Xiropigadou, also takes place annually during the summer months and features several music concerts. The events have different focuses: the olive festival centres on olive products and dishes, while Kalolimano brings together several concerts. If you are travelling specifically for a festival, check the dates for your travel period.

Water sports and finding a holiday apartment

The area around Xiropigado is suitable for windsurfing and kitesurfing. These two sports give your stay an active focus, without requiring you to choose the destination based solely on the type of beach. When looking for a holiday apartment in Xiropigado, it is therefore helpful to decide first what brings you there: an interest in sports, the coast or a particular festival will lead to different plans. Kalolimano takes place during the summer months; the olive festival is held annually. Check the relevant date if you would like to combine your holiday apartment search with a festival visit.
