Auerstedt: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Auerstedt is associated with the Battle of Auerstedt on October 14, 1806. On a hill, a sandstone memorial plaque and three linden trees commemorate the event; the manor house served as the Prussian headquarters. Since January 1, 2013, Auerstedt has been a district of the rural municipality of Bad Sulza.

History and Culture

St. Vitus Church in Auerstedt dates from the 12th century and was rebuilt between 1718 and 1722. The Auerworld Palace is a round structure woven from native willow branches and has served as a multifunctional cultural and communication venue since 1998.

According to the local chronicle, Auerstedt Castle was built in 1522 and rebuilt after a major fire in 1841; the adjoining Auerstedt Museum World is dedicated to the local history.

Paths and Landscape

The Napoleon Hiking Trail connects the battle sites and fields of the twin battles of Jena and Auerstedt via hiking trails, cycle paths, and a touring route for motorists. Auerstedt is considered to be located in a wine-growing region and lies in an agricultural area east of Apolda, in a valley of the Emsenbach and on the eastern edge of the Thuringian Basin.

Rudelsberg is located in the area surrounding Auerstedt. Schulpforte, a monastery church, is also in the area surrounding Auerstedt, as is Burgholzhausen, a village church. In the wider regional surroundings of Auerstedt are Kapellendorf Moated Castle, Kunitzburg, Gleis-Berg, and Napoleonstein Windknollen. The Sonnenkuppe is located in the immediate vicinity of Auerstedt.
