The battle of Auerstedt on 14 October 1806 is commemorated by a sandstone plaque on the estate building and three lime trees on a hill. Four lime trees once stood there. During the battle, the estate building served as the Prussian headquarters. The Auerworld Palace has stood in Auerstedt since 1998. This sturdy circular structure, built from locally sourced willow branches, has a diameter of 25 metres. Another attraction in Auerstedt is the Maloca, a modern wooden building in a South American architectural style.
The annual calendar of festivals and local traditions includes the Bakehouse Festival on the first Saturday in January, the raising of the maypole on 30 April, and the village fair on the weekend after 14 June. The Auerworld Festival follows in summer, on the last weekend in July. Oktoberfest takes place on the first weekend in October, and Halloween on 30 October. Cycle Routes and Regional Discoveries
Auerstedt lies directly on the Saale-Unstrut-Elster cycling loop and is directly connected to the Saale Cycle Route and the Ilm Valley Cycle Route. The Ilm Valley Cycle Route passes through the spa gardens and by the Tourist Information Office. A distinctive cultural venue in Bad Sulza is Goethe’s Garden House 2, an exact replica of Goethe’s garden house in Weimar.
