Nature
Eisenberg is situated mainly on a plateau bordered to the south and north by valleys with the Malzbach and Raudabach streams. To the northwest lies the wooded Muschelkalk hill of Beuche.

Eisenberg is connected to the road network via the A9 Berlin–Munich motorway and the B7, which runs through the town.
The town is surrounded by moderately elevated terrain with deciduous and coniferous forests.
Eisenberg is a base in eastern Thuringia between the regional centres of Jena, Gera and Naumburg, with access to the A9, A4 and the Hermsdorf interchange.

Eisenberg offers, among other things, a 9-kilometre circular route through the Eisenberg Mühltal valley. This provides hiking enthusiasts with a specific local route.
In the nearby Mühltal valley, an 8-kilometre paved road runs between Weißenborn and Kursdorf and is suitable for walking and cycling; it is complemented by additional forest paths in the side valleys and on the surrounding heights.
The nearby hiking route in the Raudabach valley is associated with historic mills and several opportunities to stop for refreshments.
