Karlsburg Manor House, built in 1721, is considered a building of cultural and historical importance. A protected avenue of lime trees, planted in 1737, leads to the manor house. The two dates refer to different phases in the development of the estate: the manor house itself dates from the early 18th century, while the avenue that shapes the approach was planted several years later.
Karlsburg Forest is an 186-hectare FFH protected area. It is a near-natural deciduous forest on gently undulating glacial moraine. After the section in Sieseby, the return route runs exclusively along the Schlei shore to Winnemark. The start and finish are at Dorfstraße 3.
The optional detour to Sieseby can be omitted, shortening the hike by about four kilometres. This detour includes a rest area with two wooden benches directly on the Schlei shore.
