Melsdorf historically belonged to Quarnbek Estate and the Flemhude parish. Getting Around

Melsdorf railway stop was reopened in 2015 and offers hourly train connections to Kiel and Rendsburg. The hiking and cycling routes pass natural and cultural highlights such as Flemhuder See, Strohbrück Lock, Emkendorf Estate and Arche Warder Animal Park.

History

In Westensee Nature Park, the manor houses in Schierensee, Deutsch-Nienhof and Emkendorf are noteworthy buildings with landscaped park grounds. Medieval fieldstone churches stand in Westensee and Flemhude. The nature park also contains historic burial sites, including megalithic tombs and burial mounds.
