The monastery church on Lindenplatz is Bordesholm’s oldest surviving listed monument. It was built between 1230 and 1510; inside there is a late Gothic bronze tomb monument for Anna of Brandenburg and Frederick I of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorp. Visitors can tour the church and its vaulted cellar. It is described as being open daily from 09:00 to 17:00, provided no other event is taking place; guided tours are offered for groups and school classes.

The monastery island complex in Bordesholm developed after the former collegiate foundation was relocated there in 1330. An island in Lake Bordesholm was connected to the mainland by three causeways before the church and monastery buildings were constructed.
