The building was first mentioned as a house and farm smithy as early as 1722.

The Jevenstedt Blacksmith Museum also includes a functioning piece of equipment from the volunteer fire brigade dating from 1888. Members of the local heritage association show children and young people how historical craft tools were used. Visits are possible by prior arrangement.
