Landscape
The Klev and Donn Landscape near St. Michaelisdonn FFH area contains just under twelve hectares of the Klev slope, which has been designated as the Kleve nature reserve since 1962. The fossil cliff known as the Klev rises more than 30 metres above the adjacent lowlands.
The area of the Eider administrative district is characterised by river landscapes, moors, marshland, Geest and forests.
Places and Water
Kleve's settlements include Westermoor, Hehm and Nordfeld in the Eider lowlands. The Eider dyke in Nordfeld was built in 1937 and still regulates the water level of the Middle Eider today.
Cycling and Hiking
The Eider Experience Route continues from Kleve via Schlichting to Lunden. A hiking trail leads from the railbike station to the Klev and back via Hopen.
At Donner Kleve, there are viewpoints at Bismarckstein and Spiekerberg. A circular hike to the viewpoints at Donner Kleve begins at the railbike station.
The Eider and its tributaries are presented as a fishing area. The railway station in St. Michaelisdonn is a starting point for cyclists arriving by train.
Culture and Regional Highlights
Several stations on the Klev slope are included in the HISTOUR route. The historic Hoper Mühle Edda stands in Hopen on the old cliff known as the Klev.
The Dithmarscher Hof in Kleve is listed as an inn serving German and regional cuisine.
