Werda: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Werda is located at the Werda Reservoir, also known as the Geigenbach Reservoir, in a wooded Vogtland landscape. The reservoir dams the Geigenbach River. Nature

The reservoir supplies raw water for drinking-water production and is located in a drinking-water protection zone. Swimming, fishing and water sports are therefore not possible at Werda Reservoir, as it is a drinking-water reservoir.

Werda's green forests offer opportunities for walking, cycling and hiking, including excursions towards the Valley of the Ten Mills. Other hiking trails from Werda lead towards Schöneck and Grünbach. The Felsenweg 3b trail begins near the sports field in Werda, follows the reservoir and the dam through the Geigenbach Valley, and then leads through nearby Vogtland landscapes with rock formations and sweeping views.

Further into the Vogtland, the Oelsnitz–Falkenstein cycle route follows a former railway line, connects the Göltzsch Valley Cycle Route with the Elster Valley Cycle Route, and has only a few differences in elevation.

Winter

The ski lift in Werda has a ski run approximately 400 metres long, particularly suitable for families with children and beginners. The ski area also includes a mountain station with a ski hut for warming up and refreshments. Together with the ski lift, around 10 kilometres of cross-country ski trails are available in winter.

History and Region

Werda Reservoir was built from 1904 to 1909 and commissioned in 1910. The wider Vogtland combines green forests and landscapes for hiking and recreation in nature with traditional crafts and regional cuisine.
