Treuen combines historic architectural monuments with natural sites and paths through the countryside.

Culture and History

The tower of Treuen’s town church is the oldest surviving building in the town. The vaults in the cellar of Treuen Castle were built in 1512/1513; concerts, lectures and readings have been held there since 2006. The Pfaffengrün Local History Museum presents a small exhibition on the history of the village and life in the Vogtland region. The original council chamber from 1915 has been preserved in the town hall.

Nature

The Treuen Local History Educational and Hiking Trail leads around the town and presents its history and natural environment. The route also includes the Altmannsgrün Moor with its typical bog vegetation.

The Eich Forest Discovery Garden offers guided events lasting around two to three hours on forestry, the environment and hunting, as well as on identifying trees, plants and wild animals. Prior registration is required for visits.

The Glöckleteiche, a nature monument covering around 3.5 hectares, lie southwest of Treuen. There are walking paths and a rustic place to stop and rest; with a little luck, visitors can also observe the rare kingfisher.

Getting Around

Next to the Perlas Tower there is a large forest playground and an e-bike charging station. The Perlas Tower is a 17-metre-high observation tower; 100 steps inside lead to the viewing platform.

Regional Character

In the Vogtland region, the forests and green hills offer opportunities for hiking, cycling and mountain biking. The Vogtland region is also associated with the manufacture of musical instruments, including violins, tubas and trombones.
