Beerheide lies at an elevation of around 710 metres above sea level on the watershed between the Zwickauer Mulde and the Rote Göltzsch. In suitable weather, views extend westward and northward as far as the heights of the Thuringian border ridge. This elevation and the surrounding landscape give the village its own distinctive character: here, active days, experiences in nature and cultural discoveries can be combined.

Rocks, Forest and Water Around Beerheide

A striking point of interest in the immediate vicinity is Röthelstein. The quartzite rock features an open-air stage and is also associated with a long-standing tradition: the traditional Whitsun singing event has been held at Röthelstein every year on Whit Sunday since 1953. Those who like to combine their trip with regional culture and a distinctive landscape location will find a specific reason to explore the area here.

The Vogtland Lake presents another side of the surrounding area. The artificially created reservoir, covering around 6 hectares, was built between 1935 and 1937 for flood protection. It is located in the forested area between Beerheide, Grünheide Forest Park and Jägersgrün and is used as a swimming lake in summer. The “Gahlenbachwiese” area natural monument is also part of the Beerheide district of the town of Auerbach/Vogtland. This gives you a choice of different nature experiences when planning your trip, from rocks and forest landscapes to water.

Hiking, Cycling and Outdoor Activities

The Beerheide Hiking Club recommends 12 hiking routes for guests. Information boards for these routes are located at three hiking car parks: at the forest sports ground, at the Beerheide Cultural Centre and at Beerheide village square. This makes it easier to plan your day without having to commit to just one tour. A holiday apartment or holiday home in Beerheide is therefore particularly appealing because it allows you to tailor your choice of hike directly to your preferred plans for the day.

There are also suitable options for other forms of exercise. A well-developed network of paved cycle paths runs around Beerheide, inviting you to go cycling in your free time. A well-developed and signposted network of bridleways makes it possible to explore the surrounding area on horseback. In Beerheide, you can also learn the correct Nordic walking technique from medically trained professionals and hire suitable Nordic walking poles.

Culture and Special Activities

The village’s history includes the cemetery chapel, built in 1890 together with the establishment of a cemetery. Along with the Whitsun singing event at Röthelstein, it offers a cultural perspective on Beerheide that goes beyond purely scenic experiences. For a varied trip, these impressions can be combined with an excursion to Vogtland Lake or a hike.

Reiterhof Reichelt offers carriage rides through the forests of Beerheide and the Vogtland region. Regular riding lessons for children and adults have no longer been offered there since 1 October 2025. Those looking for a ride through the forest landscape can therefore choose between the signposted bridleway network and the carriage rides on offer. Wellness services in Beerheide include treatments with honey, chocolate or aromatic oils, invigorating massages and natural remedies such as peat.

Beerheide as a Starting Point for Planning Your Trip

Choosing a holiday apartment or holiday home in Beerheide is particularly suitable for travellers who want to experience nature, outdoor activities and regional culture at their own pace. Beerheide can be reached via the A72 motorway, providing a clear point of reference for your journey. You can decide flexibly which activities to focus on, depending on the weather, season and interests of your travel group.
