Nature Trails

The nature trail at Großer Klietz Lake starts and ends at the Seeblick Country Inn, is marked with “Wandersmann” and is approximately 7.5 km long. It follows an old railway embankment to a bathing area with a playground and sunbathing lawn, circles the lake and leads through parts of the Klietz Forest.

Information boards along the route provide information about the native plants and animals. In spring, breeding swans and other waterfowl can be observed there. From spring to autumn, bats can be observed near the bathing area during the evening and night hours and heard using a detector.

The nature trail at Kleiner Klietz Lake is approximately 2.8 km long and starts at the Seeblick Country Inn. Kleiner Klietz Lake is described as a popular fishing lake.

Culture and History

The Klietz fortification, with excavations on the eastern shore of Kleiner Klietz Lake, is a historical testimony associated with Klietz’s Slavic origins. An information board at the fortification explains excavations at a Slavic fortification complex. The location of the fortification is still faintly visible in the meadow.

The Klietz post mill is a restored technical monument and can be visited by prior appointment.
