The Billigheimer Bruch is a former marshland featuring wet meadows, fields, pastures, flowing and standing waters, reed beds and swamp forest. Nearby, there is a 300-metre-long educational trail with eight stations. Small herds of water buffalo graze on the extensively managed areas of the Billigheimer Bruch. The trail explains the local habitats, the history of the site and the ecological role of the nature conservation project.

The Appenhofen observation tower is an accessible viewpoint overlooking the vineyards of the Southern Wine Route towards the Palatinate Forest UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Culture and History

The choir of St. Martin's Church dates from the 14th century and contains Gothic wall paintings from the 14th and 15th centuries. The Bible Garden around St. Martin's Church includes trees, shrubs, herbs and cereals with biblical themes, accompanied by explanatory signs.

The St. John the Baptist Chapel in Appenhofen is a Gothic simultaneous church dating from the 14th or 15th century. Its choir has a rib-vaulted ceiling.

The medieval fortifications can be viewed from the outside at any time. The preserved Upper Gate and remnants of the town moat bear witness to Billigheim's medieval town walls. The Upper Gate houses a small wine tavern.

Leisure

Ingenheim Outdoor Pool has a 25-metre swimming area, a leisure and adventure pool, a paddling pool and a large sunbathing lawn. Billigheim-Ingenheim also has a wine trail and a fishing pond.

The Klingbach Valley has a municipal campsite for tents, caravans and motorhomes. Campers have access to the local outdoor pool.

The Billigheimer Purzelmarkt is a traditional festival held on the third weekend of September. It includes a parade, horse races, folk games, live music and festivities around the market square and festival grounds.
