Hiking

A circular hike starting in Rettert follows the Hessenstraße to Holzhausen Roman Fort, then continues along the Limes Trail and returns via the former route of the Nassau Narrow-Gauge Railway. A 3-kilometre hike from the car park at Rettert Cemetery leads downhill through the forest to the Sauerbrunnen mineral spring and the Hasenbach. It then continues through flower-rich forest edges to the forest swimming pool.

Trails

Rettert is one of six municipalities that jointly developed the Three Forts Circular Trail. The circular trail uses sections of the Loreley-Aar Cycle Path, the Limes Long-Distance Hiking Trail, and the German Limes Cycle Routes. Its main attractions along the Limes include Holzhausen Fort, Pfarrhofen Small Fort, Watchtower 2/25, and the reconstructed Pohl Limes Fort.

One variant of the Three Forts Circular Trail leads from the Hessenstraße to Rettert and continues along the Rettertbach into the Hasenbach Valley.

Rettert forms the southern tip of Nassau Nature Park. The Hasenbach rises in the Rettert area beside the Limes. Two mineral springs, known as Sauerbrunnen, are located directly on the Hasenbach. The remains of a Roman villa with a bathhouse were found at the Hasenbach spring.
