Culture
St. Quirinus Parish Church is a Neo-Gothic church built between 1894 and 1898. Due to its impressive size, it is also known as the Eifel Cathedral.
The historic buildings also include the cemetery chapel. It is listed as an individual monument in the list of monuments of Rhineland-Palatinate. Its core dates from the period after 1400 and is described as being of Late Gothic origin. The chapel complex includes 19 grave crosses dating from the 16th to the 18th century.
The Late Gothic pilgrimage chapel of St. Jost stands in the Langenfeld district of Sankt Jost in the Nitztal valley.
Trails and landscape
The Jodokus Trail is an approximately 11-kilometre pilgrimage and circular hiking trail near Langenfeld. It starts at St. Quirinus Parish Church, follows the Nitz stream to the pilgrimage chapel of St. Jost, and crosses varied Eifel landscapes with meadows, forests and small valleys.
The Jodokus Trail is described as moderately difficult. The route is stated to take about three hours and cover approximately 300 metres of elevation gain.
