Wolfsheim: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Wolfsheim is located north of the Wißberg on a gently south-facing slope.

Landscape

Wolfsheim is one of seven settlements bordering the Wißberg; a hiking trail leads up the hill. Hiking Trail 4 connects Wolfsheim with Hiking Trail 5 and continues towards Vendersheim and the Wißberg.

Wine and Countryside

In summer, Wolfsheim's winegrowers and associations provide refreshments at the Gigser every afternoon on the third Sunday of the month. The Wolfsheim Gigser is Wolfsheim's local hill and viewpoint, approximately 1 km outside the village. There is a shelter, a vineyard swing, a lounger, as well as tables and benches; below the viewpoint, there are also two wine tables. The Gigser overlooks a green valley and the golf course on the Wißberg.

Culture and History

Wolfsheim's Protestant St. Martin's Church was originally dedicated to Saint Martin. Between 1697 and 1705, it was used jointly by Catholics and Protestants as a simultaneous church. The St. Martin's Church was extensively restored from 1967 to 1969; during this period, a northern sacristy was added.

The Protestant parish church has a Romanesque eastern choir tower dating from the 12th century. Its nave was built in 1586/87, extended to the north in 1747/48, and modified in the Baroque style. Archaeological finds dating from the Neolithic period to Roman times point to early settlement in the Wolfsheim area.

The Wolfsheim gold find is exhibited at the Museum Wiesbaden. The Wolfsheim Nuppenglas is kept at the Landesmuseum Mainz in the Middle Rhine region.
