Nature

The Wißberg is 270 metres high and one of the highest elevations in Rheinhessen. A hiking trail to the Wißberg begins in Sprendlingen. On the western side of the Wißberg, a geological trail provides insights into sites containing fossilised mussels and ceramic shards from the Hallstatt period.

The panoramic trail on the Wißberg runs around the golf course and offers views across the region. The high-altitude hiking trail passes through agricultural fields, vineyards and woodland and includes scenic viewpoints and rest areas such as the Zotzenheimer Horn.

Another cycling route starts in Sprendlingen at Bettenheimer Hof and follows the high-altitude hiking trail towards the Zotzenheimer Horn. One route variant leads towards Aspisheim; the route then continues via Horrweiler, Welgesheim and Zotzenheim on the way back.

Wine

Sprendlingen is known for its wines and rich wine culture. The classic grape varieties include Riesling, Silvaner and Burgundy grapes; they thrive in Sprendlingen’s limestone-, loess-, sand- and clay-rich soils.

The Via Vinea is a wine-themed hiking trail around the Wißberg. It includes a barefoot trail, an activity involving the search for fossilised mussels, and a herb garden maintained by the Sprendlingen Rural Women’s Association.

A glass Rundidum installation on the Via Vinea provides an overview of the individual villages in the region. The Via Vinea also offers places for playing, observing and trying things out. Its arena features five columns decorated with individual faces.

The Sprendlingen Local History Museum is housed in the former Reuther estate and contains the private collection of the Genther family. The Napoleon Tower between Ober-Hilbersheim and Sprendlingen is modelled on a historic telegraph mast.
