Nature
The municipality includes around 750 hectares of forest. The Druslach-Bach Adventure Trail runs through Lustadt. The trail leads from the Lingenfeld station via Westheim and Lustadt to the Bubenablass in Zeiskam. The Kraut und Rüben cycle path also crosses the town.
The RuheForst Maiblumenwald Lustadt is located in the Maiblumenwald, a mixed pine and oak forest. The RuheForst area is situated within a protected Flora-Fauna-Habitat area. The RuheForst is also accessible to people who find walking difficult; visitors to the RuheForst Maiblumenwald will also find a place for quiet contemplation.
Culture
A fixture in the local annual calendar is the Loschter Handkeesfescht, which has been held every year around 1 May in the Maiblumenwald since 1925. The festival attracts many thousands of Handkäse enthusiasts. Accommodation for visitors is available in Lustadt.
The historic town centre of Oberlustadt is designated as a protected heritage zone. This heritage zone contains an unusually dense concentration of imposing half-timbered houses. The Jewish cemetery north of Lustadt is also a protected heritage zone. It contains numerous gravestones, most of which date from the early 19th century.
History
The historic buildings in Niederlustadt include the Protestant Church, a Neo-Gothic brick-built hall church dating from 1873. St. Laurentius in Niederlustadt is a Late Gothic hall church dating from 1510.
Lustadt is also home to the Schäffer Inn, an imposing half-timbered building dating from 1746. The Protestant Parish Church in Oberlustadt is a rubble-stone hall church dating from 1615. St. John the Baptist in Oberlustadt is a four-bay hall church built in the Reform architecture style between 1915 and 1922.
The former Lustadt railway station is a standard-design reception building with a goods shed and residential floor dating from around 1870.
