Lehmen is described as the oldest wine-growing community on the Lower Moselle. The historic name Liomena was recorded in the year 865.

Culture

Lehmen is associated with Lehmener Würzlay and Razejungewingert; the municipality refers to them as a local “highlight”. Stolzenfels Castle, Lahneck Castle, Eltz Castle and the Ehrenburg ruins are located in the area surrounding Lehmen.

Geographical Location

Lehmen lies on the left bank of the Moselle in the Terraced Moselle region of Rhineland-Palatinate. Niederfell lies opposite Lehmen on the other side of the Moselle. Lehmen is approximately 19 kilometres from Koblenz and approximately 31 kilometres from Cochem.

Hatzenporter Werth is located in the area surrounding Lehmen. Dicken-Berg is located near Lehmen. Gänsehalsturm and Hochstein are located in the wider regional surroundings of Lehmen.

Activities

The Moselle Cycle Route runs through Lehmen, passing directly by the Wine Adventure Trail. Lehmen borders directly on the Schoppenstecher Hiking Trail and the Würzlaysteig; a side trail to the Moselle Trail was inaugurated in 2021.
