Wildenburg stands on a mountain spur above the Wiesental valley. The complex preserves a keep more than 25 metres high with a Baroque cupola. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Friesenhagen can continue their search for accommodation afterwards.

Culture

Wildenburg was the principal seat of the Lords of Wildenburg and was associated with Gerhard von Arenberg, who called himself “Gerardus de Wildenberg” in 1239.

Crottorf Castle is described as the only moated castle complex of its kind in north-eastern Rhineland-Palatinate and as one of the best-preserved moated castles in the Rhineland. Crottorf is first documented in 1144 as “Crutorp”.

St. Anne’s Chapel was built by Franciscan friars in the 17th century. Locally, it is known as the Red Chapel and stands at a site associated with the history of the witch trials in Wildenburg. St. Roch’s Chapel was probably built by Franciscans in the 17th century and features a square, plastered rubble-stone structure with a Welsch dome.
