Bad Berleburg combines a historic old town with a castle, parkland, wooded landscapes and a variety of excursion destinations. The historic old town includes the castle, the orangery, the adjacent park and half-timbered houses with slate roofs in the upper town. Berleburg Castle forms the centrepiece; the castle park and historic town centre are suitable for a joint walk.

Culture and History

Berleburg Castle displays portraits of the Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg family as well as weapons, hunting equipment, trophies, uniforms, porcelain, engraved glass, stucco ceilings and furniture. The castle park covers approximately 12 hectares and was laid out in the first half of the 18th century. A Baroque pleasure house stands at the western end of the Cross Garden in the castle park. It served the princely family for summer celebrations and housed citrus and orange trees in winter.
