Blossom season and historical traces

Since 2009, the Meckenheim Blossom Festival has been celebrated every April during the fruit blossom season. Since 2010, the Meckenheim Blossom Festival Queen has been crowned each year in Meckenheim. The festival and the coronation are recurring traditions with different emphases. History is also reflected in a variety of traces: the Roman aqueduct of the Eifel Aqueduct ran alongside Meckenheim and Lüftelberg. At the manor house of Burg Altendorf, a filled-in well and the foundation-wall remains of the former castle have been preserved. The aqueduct points to ancient water supply, while the foundation remains point to the former castle complex.
