Culture and History
The Protestant Church of Barntrup was founded in 1317. Barntrup Castle was built between 1584 and 1588 as a two-storey building with three corner towers. The castle courtyard can be visited, while the building and castle park are not accessible because they are privately owned.

The Steneberg cigar factory operated in Barntrup from 1861 to 1956. From 1861 to 1956, cigars were a defining feature of Barntrup.
