Hönningen: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Culture
In Hönningen, the roadside chapel Maria Friedenskönigin stands at the highest point of the road from Ober-Reifferscheid to Hönningen. The present-day chapel was rebuilt in 1952 after an earlier shrine had been destroyed in 1790.
Its bell comes from the former Rescheid mine and was later brought to Hönningen; it thus creates a local connection to mining at this location.
The surrounding area of Hönningen is home to Vogelsang Castle and Steinfeld Cistercian Monastery. In the wider regional area are the Foundation Scheibler Museum Rotes Haus Monschau and Satzvey Castle.
