History and Classification

Glowe was first documented around 1314; the name is associated with the Slavic forms Gluowa or Glovau as well as with Cape Königshörn.

Glowe is a municipality on the island of Rügen in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Since the beginning of 2024, Glowe has been designated a Baltic Sea resort.
