The Peenemünde power plant and Wolgast Zoo are located in the area surrounding Rubenow. The Peenemünde oxygen plant, Lubmin Beach, the Trassenheide Butterfly Farm, Peenemünde Test Stand VII, Dänholm and Kleiner Wotig are also located in the surrounding area.

Landscape

Rubenow lies between Wolgast and Lubmin, south of the Greifswald Bodden.

The northern part of Rubenow is forested and includes the Lubmin Heath; the former Greifswald nuclear power plant is partly located within the municipality of Rubenow.

The southern part of Rubenow is home to the Ziese Valley and the Ziesebruch, a former glacial meltwater valley up to three kilometres wide.
