Village Church with Special Features

Gorlosen Village Church is a rectangular fieldstone building with a polygonal chancel and a west tower. Inside, the pulpit altar stands out as an unusual feature for the region. The painted wooden ceiling in the Baroque style is particularly richly decorated: dating from 1679, it features medallions depicting Jesus Christ and the Apostles. The ceiling adds a colorful, narrative accent to the simple fieldstone building.

Other details give the church its distinctive character. These include an intricately crafted wrought-iron baptismal stand from 1801. The organ was built in 1873. Together, these features reflect different forms of craftsmanship and several clearly dated milestones in the church’s history.
