History

Settlement activity in what is now Kröpelin is documented from AD 500 onward. The town was first recorded in 1177 as “Crapelin”. The village church was recorded in 1186 as the property of Doberan Monastery, and the settlement developed into a regular east-west-oriented urban layout.

Kröpelin is located near the Baltic Sea resorts of Kühlungsborn, Heiligendamm and Rerik.

Kröpelin is connected to the A20 motorway and the B105 and has a railway connection.
