The Bissendorf Castle Trail is the municipality’s main circular hiking route and is about 75 kilometres long. It passes castle sites within the municipality. The full route can be divided into five tours of approximately 15 kilometres each. This lets you include individual sections in your travel plans or make the longer circuit the focus of your trip. The megalithic tomb in Jeggen dates back to the Neolithic era and is 5,000 to 5,500 years old. It is among Europe’s oldest cultural monuments. The Megalithic Culture Route from Osnabrück to Oldenburg also passes the Jeggen megalithic tomb. You can visit the tomb as a cultural stop in its own right or combine it with the Bissendorf North Circular Route, which also passes through Jeggen.
Another cultural destination is the Museum of Agriculture and Crafts at Hof Eickhoff in Bissendorf-Natbergen. Visits are possible on the first Tuesday of every month from 2 to 5 p.m., as well as on special anniversaries and by arrangement. When the sky is overcast, its 400-cubic-metre pool is heated by a solar system. The facilities also include a winding yellow waterslide.
