The Opferteich is in the upper village, near Martini Church. A short spur path leads from Methestraße to the grounds of the wax foundry; the pond can be reached via this path. Tall trees and bushes surround the water, where several springs bubble up. Legends and stories are associated with the Opferteich. It is also linked to a pre-Christian cult and judicial site—a historical interpretation that should be distinguished from the traditional legends. Nature and local traditions give this attraction a different character from the swimming pool or the Gasometer.
