Culture and History

The Estorf Church, built as a half-timbered church in 1696, has a Baroque pulpit altar and a depiction of the Last Judgment. It also contains a largely original late-Baroque organ built by Ernst Wilhelm Meyer in 1839.

Nine historic barns have been preserved in the barn quarter “Im Schünebusch.” The “Schünebusch” barn quarter was established between 1650 and 1750 in an old oak grove in Estorf.

The local history museum in the barn quarter displays agricultural equipment, rural domestic culture, a bakery, and the history of the village of Estorf. The outdoor grounds of the barn quarter are accessible at any time.

By prior arrangement, the Radler-Scheune offers groups rustic overnight accommodation. Community festivals, cultural events, and concerts take place in the barn quarter.

Medieval Estorf was shaped by the noble families von Freytag and von Münchhausen; the von Freytag family still manages its estate there. Every year, the Estorf-Leeseringen theater association stages multi-day Low German plays.
