Werpeloh: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Werpeloh is located in Lower Saxony, Germany. Anyone wishing to rent a holiday apartment in Werpeloh can then continue searching for accommodation. In the historic Brinkdorf village center, an oak grove accessible via small paths gives the village center a park-like character. Historic brick houses and later Gulfhaus farmhouses shape the townscape. Culture

One of the independent attractions is the Batak House Werpeloh, a mission museum from 1978 modeled on the stilt houses of the Batak people on Sumatra. The Batak House also presents Batak shadow theater with Wayang figures and artifacts belonging to traditional healers.

History

The Werpeloh Stone Circle is located at Hoogen Klinken. Its five-ton central stone is enclosed by two rings of twelve glacial erratics. The area around Werpeloh is also home to numerous prehistoric stone graves and barrows. Extending beyond the individual village, the Megalithic Culture cycling route runs for 390 kilometers between Osnabrück and Oldenburg and connects more than 70 megalithic tombs; almost half of them are located in the Emsland.

Nature

The Geological Garden in Werpeloh presents regional geological features and glacial erratics from the nearby Werpeloh sand quarry along educational trails. A raw materials educational trail introduces fill sand and concrete aggregate; information boards explain their origin and use. The sandarium explains ecological relationships and provides a habitat for wild bees, while a pile of stones offers shelter to reptiles.

Visiting

The local heritage association introduces guests and visitor groups to the local history center and other attractions in Werpeloh. Coffee and cake can be arranged upon request. The Werpeloh Stone Circle can be reached by driving from Werpeloh toward Wippingen and, after leaving the village, taking the second farm road on the left toward Hohenklinken.
