Wagenfeld: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Wagenfeld lies in a landscape shaped by the Diepholz Moorniederung: Together with Ströhen, the town is located in the DümmerWeserLand and in Dümmer Nature Park. Around the moorland, nature observation, paths through different types of landscape, culture and regional cycling routes come together.

Nature

A moor railway stops directly at MOORWELTEN; from there, visitors have access to the Moorpadd and the hiking trails in Neustädter Moor. The Ströhen Moor Railway runs from the Moor Railway stop or the MOORWELTEN stop to the Moorpadd in Neustädter Moor and back through forests, meadows, heathland and moorland. MOORWELTEN can also organise moor railway rides with guided excursions through Neustädter Moor.

MOORWELTEN offers a multimedia exhibition about the moorland habitat, its wildlife and the role of moorland conservation in climate protection. Wagenfeld is also home to a school in Dümmer Nature Park that has carried out local nature-related activities, including observing plants and studying a pond ecosystem.

The nature and wildlife attractions also include Ströhen Zoo. It is home to Europe’s largest privately owned Arabian stud farm, covers 30 hectares and keeps more than 800 animals from all over the world.

Culture

The preserved manor house of Auburg serves as Wagenfeld’s cultural centre. St. Antonius Church in Wagenfeld is more than 200 years old and underwent extensive renovation between June 2003 and January 2004. The Auburg Cultural Circle regularly organises cultural events.

Cycling

The Crane Tour connects Lake Dümmer with MOORWELTEN in Ströhen. The Sagenhaftes Wagenfeld cycling tour leads to twelve places associated with local legends.
