The Weather Park in Offenbach is a public park devoted to weather and climate. A learning and discovery trail with 15 stations explains and illustrates weather phenomena. At the visitor centre, you can experiment for yourself at interactive stations: create a tornado in a water column, make your own rainbow glow, and generate weather scenes such as storms or thunderstorms using images and sounds.

Guides regularly offer family and themed tours about weather and climate. If you would like to plan a tour, check the specific dates. SCAPE° also offers hands-on experiences, but in a different format: in this interactive exhibition and experience space, stations, workshops and events explore the connections between weather, climate and change. The learning trail and its 15 stations are the main focus at the Weather Park, while SCAPE° also features workshops and events.

Leather, lettering and local culture

The German Leather Museum brings together more than 30,000 objects documenting the worldwide use and cultural-historical significance of leather and related materials, from the earliest history of humankind to the present day. At media tables, you can feel cowhide, parchment and sharkskin, as well as vegan and recyclable materials, including tinder fungus and Piñatex®. Information about the materials’ special characteristics is also available there.

The museum offers public tours for all exhibitions and individual tours on request. Public tours take place on selected Sundays at 3 pm and on the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm. As specific dates may change, it is a good idea to check the current schedule. Workshops offer the chance to engage creatively with the museum’s themes.

The Klingspor Museum brings international book and lettering art to life. In the historic part of the building, the permanent exhibition extends from the ground floor to the attic and offers insight into the museum’s history, centred on the type foundry of brothers Karl and Wilhelm Klingspor. The six collection focuses include lettering, fine press printing, illustrated books, artists’ books, illustration and posters. For a hands-on introduction to printmaking, the print workshop at Bernardbau offers introductory courses in various techniques and the safe use of the presses and tools required. Participants can then use them for their own projects; course availability may vary.

The Kickers Fan Museum offers another perspective on Offenbach’s cultural history. Since March 2007, it has been the home of fans of Offenbacher Kickers 1901 e. V. What began as a private collection has developed into a permanent exhibition of more than 5,000 objects.

The Green Ring, getting active and the weekly market

The Green Ring from Main to Main surrounds the denser, built-up area of central Offenbach to the west, south and east. This continuous green corridor connects valleys running towards the Main with parks and open spaces close to the city. The Green Ring is directly accessible from large parts of the city; its uninterrupted network of footpaths and cycle paths makes it suitable for walking, running and cycling. It offers a different way to explore Offenbach from the learning trail in the Weather Park, which focuses on weather phenomena.

The weekly market at Wilhelmsplatz could also have a place in your plans. On Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, vendors offer fruit, vegetables, cakes, delicacies and other goods. Market hours may change, so check the latest information before planning your visit.
