Dünsberg provides a clear point of reference in the landscape: Biebertal’s six districts lie around its 500-metre-high summit. Here, the Gladenbach Uplands feature mountains, meadow valleys, and mixed beech and oak forests. These characteristics describe the setting of the destination without any one district having to represent every interest.

Vetzberg Castle is also defined by its striking location. It stands on the summit of the extinct volcano of the same name, Vetzberg. Dünsberg and Vetzberg therefore offer different points of focus: Dünsberg is the reference point for the six districts, while the castle’s location can be described specifically in terms of the summit of Vetzberg. Celtic trails with different focuses

The Celtic Trail is a circular hiking route with 25 stations devoted to the Celtic period. Videos accessed via QR codes add to the theme. The Celtic and Roman Trail is classified differently: it is considered a Lahn Facet, meaning a short route on the Lahn Hiking Trail. The stated focuses therefore help you choose between the two: stations and QR-code videos on one hand, and its classification as a short route on the Lahn Hiking Trail on the other.

The Celtic farmstead is another connection to the Celtic period. It was built in 2005/2006 directly behind the Celtic Gate. The theme therefore appears not only as the focus of a hiking trail, but also in the form of a named farmstead. Its construction dates belong to the site’s more recent history and should be distinguished from the Celtic period to which the trail’s theme refers.

Museums and traces of working life

The Hof Haina Farmhouse Museum has been located on the highest of the five farms since 1973. The Frankenbach Local History Museum has a different focus: it presents documents and objects from the village’s former agricultural and commercial working life. Those interested in everyday and working life in the past can thus distinguish between a museum at one of the farms and a collection of documents and objects from Frankenbach.

At the Rodheim-Bieber Local History Museum, the bakehouse was incorporated into the museum in 2011. This adds a specific element connected with the bakehouse to the insights into past working life. Together with the Hof Haina Farmhouse Museum and the Frankenbach Local History Museum, it offers a selection of different themes and locations rather than a single, uniform museum focus.

The Rodheim-Bieber Local History Museum is listed as open on Sundays from 3 to 5 p.m. and by appointment. The Frankenbach Local History Museum is listed as open from April 1 to October 30 on the first Sunday of each month from 2 to 4 p.m., as well as by prior arrangement.
