Uckerland combines nature experiences with village history: in Wolfshagen, a circular trail surrounded by forest runs around Haussee, while churches, a historic bridge and a king’s column tell the story of the villages’ architecture. There are also protected landscapes and lakes. When looking for a holiday apartment, you can first consider whether you would like to focus your stay on walks and nature, historic buildings or summer swimming.

Circular Trail, Cycle Route and Lakes

The two-kilometre hiking trail in Wolfshagen runs around Haussee, mostly surrounded by forest. Its length gives the route a clear framework, without requiring you to commit to a specific walking time. If you prefer cycling, you can take a look at the Berlin–Usedom Cycle Route, which passes through the villages in the Trebenow district. This gives you a specific walking loop and a cycle route through several villages as different options for planning your day.

The Great Lübbenow Lake is a great place to go swimming in summer. The Great and Little Lübbenow Lakes are also protected landscape features and breeding grounds for numerous waterbirds. This makes them an interesting nature destination, whether or not swimming is on your agenda. Nearby, the landscape shaped by the Wilsickow “Os” and framed by fields and forests invites you to enjoy long walks and cycle rides in the surrounding area.

Architecture and Park History

In Wolfshagen, you can see different architectural forms and periods side by side. The 60-metre-long tile bridge is an arch bridge built of fieldstones and bricks in the 1830s and completely restored in 1995–1996. In the centre of the village stands the King’s Column, built in 1834 and about 17 metres high. Both structures offer a tangible starting point for exploring the history of the village—one as a bridge, the other as a column.

The history of Wolfshagen Park, which covers 3.1 hectares, can also be traced through its transformation: it was created in the 17th century near the palace gardens in the French style. At the beginning of the 19th century, Peter-Josef Lenné redesigned it as an English-style landscape garden. The church in Wolfshagen adds another architectural highlight. This elaborate Neo-Gothic rendered building, with its irregular floor plan, was constructed between 1850 and 1858.

Other churches reveal different historical details. The village church in Hetzdorf is an early Gothic fieldstone building. Its richly decorated, three-storey altar dates from 1620 and features narrative reliefs depicting biblical stories. In Wismar, the medieval fieldstone church is surrounded by a substantial defensive wall; it also has a historically significant organ in the Classical style. The church in Schlepkow, meanwhile, is a fieldstone building with a half-timbered tower dating from the 18th century.

Protected Landscapes and Living Traditions

Blankenburg Castle once stood in the Middle Ages on the western shore of Haussee in Wolfshagen. Some fieldstone remains have survived, and the 24-metre-high keep was restored in 1999. The Köhntop Valley near Trebenow has a distinctive natural history: the nature reserve features dry grassland slopes where various protected plants grow. In Lemmersdorf, an avenue of horse chestnut trees leads to the old park, which features a variety of tree species.

One of the recurring events in Wolfshagen is the annual Rose Festival, first celebrated in 1858. When searching for a holiday apartment, different interests like these can help guide your choice: would you prefer your trip to centre on a particular landscape, architectural and local history, or a seasonal event? The details about the trails, lakes and buildings can help you decide what you would like to focus on during your stay in Uckerland.
