Culture

The Ödmühle area is associated with archaeological excavations carried out from 1975 to 1980.

Aiterhofen has been inhabited since the Neolithic period. The settlement dates approximately to the period from 5500 to 2300 BC. The Ödmühle area contains a burial ground of the Linear Pottery culture with around 260 graves, described as the largest of its kind in Germany.

In 773, Aiterhofen was mentioned as an Agilolfingian ducal court.

Aiterhofen is a municipality, a cadastral district and a parish village in the Straubing-Bogen district of Lower Bavaria, as well as the seat of the Aiterhofen administrative community.
