Circular Trails Starting at the Market Square

Seven circular hiking trails, each between 8 and 13 kilometres long, start at the market square in Waidhaus. The Vitalpark, which is part of the leisure complex, has a climbing and balancing course and a rope-net climbing pyramid for children and teenagers. There is also a three-metre-high bouldering rock with various levels of difficulty. The Vitalpark is accessible free of charge via the main entrance to the leisure complex. When planning your day, you can distinguish between the water facilities at the seasonal outdoor pool and the activities at the Vitalpark; free access applies to the Vitalpark.

At the Dufthang: Bees, Plants and Accessible Access

At the Dufthang, bilingual information boards with QR codes explain bee-friendly trees and shrubs, plants and herbs, as well as the life of bees. This gives the visit a clear thematic focus that you can choose independently of a hike. The entire Dufthang site is accessible. Art on the Border Bridge

There is a work of art on each side of the motorway bridge at the Waidhaus border crossing. Both are connected with the eventful history and strict separation of the two countries. The works offer a different focus from the nature and activity options, bringing a historical theme to life at a specific location.

A Longer Route in the Wider Destination of Neustadt An Der Waldnaab

In the wider destination of Neustadt An Der Waldnaab, the Bockl offers another way to spend an active day outdoors. The 52-kilometre route follows a historic railway line from Neustadt an der Waldnaab to Eslarn and can be used on foot, by bicycle or on inline skates. It is mostly paved and traffic-free; gradients rarely exceed three per cent. Compared with the 8-to-13-kilometre circular hiking trails starting at the market square in Waidhaus, the Bockl is a much longer route with several ways to get around.

The Bockl’s starting point in Neustadt an der Waldnaab is directly accessible by train. Trains run every hour to the terminus of the Nuremberg–Neustadt an der Waldnaab line; from there, you can transfer directly to a bicycle. Check the timetable before making this journey.
