Church History and the Open Book House
A church in Hohenthann was mentioned in a 1229 document issued by the Regensburg Cathedral Chapter and was replaced by a new building in 1965. The two dates mark different chapters: the documentary mention and the later rebuilding. The church’s history therefore offers a specific point of reference if you are interested in the town’s historic traces.
The Book House adds an open reading option. As a street library, it is freely available to everyone and offers a different way to connect with the town than its church history.
The Outdoor Pool and Its Improvements
During the renovation of Hohenthann’s outdoor pool, three massage jets, a swan-neck fountain and a new slide were installed. A new children’s pool was also connected to the pool water treatment system. The pool entrance was made accessible during the works. Nature Trails and Hiking Routes
At the Eichelgarten Nature Discovery Trail, information boards explain the trees growing there and the surrounding ecosystem. The Hohenthann Forest Discovery Trail offers a different experience: you can try out features such as the senior exercise course, the seesaw, the hunter’s stand and the zip line. The Eichelgarten focuses on information about trees and the environment, while the forest trail offers features to try out. You can choose according to your interest in nature topics or the individual features.

Landshut as the Wider Destination
The wider destination of Landshut offers further information on hiking and themed trails. The Landshut Höhenwanderweg is around 50 kilometres long and runs through the gentle hills of Lower Bavaria. The Time Trails are themed routes through the Isar, Vils and Laaber valleys. The descriptions of the trails differ: the Höhenwanderweg is described by its approximate total length and landscape, while the Time Trails are identified by their themes and the three named valleys. The Hohenthann brochure complements the regional routes with local hiking trails.
