History
The documented history of Mauern dates back to the year 899. At the same time, archaeological excavations indicate a continuous settlement history from the Linear Pottery culture through to the modern era.
Archaeological excavations in Mauern have identified settlement remains dating from around 7,500 years ago. The finds include a dog skeleton approximately 6,000 years old and the remains of a Roman villa rustica.
