Winterhausen showcases its historic town center in a municipal old-town tour featuring remarkable buildings, architectural ensembles, and picturesque alleys.

Rathausplatz and the church hill form a concentrated area of historic heritage with the Romanesque St. Nicholas Church dating from before 1250, a half-timbered cantor's house from 1510, and a Baroque town hall built in 1738.

The 14-kilometer European Cultural Trail “Sun, Moon and Stones” begins at Winterhausen's Main riverbank, leads across Rathausplatz and past St. Nicholas Church, and climbs to the Mondguckerin viewpoint. Some sections are steep and require sturdy footwear.

In the area surrounding Winterhausen, the described cultural trail continues through Sommerhausen and Goßmannsdorf, crosses vineyards and a shell-limestone quarry, and offers views over the Main; the described loop is 13 kilometers long and takes about four hours.
