St. George’s Chapel: Construction History and Views

The chapel’s choir dates from the Late Gothic period, probably from the second half of the 15th century. The nave, with its curved west gable and three-storey square roof turret, dates from 1692. The chapel also features today’s high-relief terracotta panels, modelled by Günzburg sculptor Josef Brenner.

The chapel was once the parish and pilgrimage church of Lobershofen, a settlement destroyed in 1462 during the Imperial War. The Stations of the Cross and the panoramic lounger connect this history with the present: at the upper end of the Stations of the Cross, the lounger offers wide-ranging views over Bachhagel and the surrounding area. Zwergbach Stream: Paths and Water Experiences

The wellness stop on Zwergbach Stream is located right on the “Sinne-Reich” themed hiking trail and the “Donautal und Alb” cycle route. This brings together two different ways to explore the landscape: on foot along a themed trail or by bike on a named route. Parking is available on site at the barefoot path by Zwergbach Stream.

On hot summer days, Zwergbach Stream is several metres wide at this point and is ideal for Kneipp water therapy. You can also paddle in the cool water.
