Petershausen: Glonn Valley, Hiking Trails and Special Places

In Petershausen, hiking trails wind through the countryside, and special places tell stories of nature, art and community involvement. The Glonn runs through the town for 5.6 kilometres. If you enjoy spending time outdoors, you can choose from several hiking routes, a short forest nature trail and the longer “Dachauer Oxenweg” cycle route. Landscapes around Petershausen

A striking landmark can be found in Kollbach: the Flurdenkmal stands on the southern edge of the Glonn Valley, west of the village, at the former sports ground. This approximately 50-metre-long earth sculpture is shaped like a landscape dragon. From the dragon’s head, you can look out over the Glonn Valley. The artwork’s shape and the view make this a special destination for anyone who enjoys experiencing landscapes and art together.

The trails around Petershausen also pass other distinctive landmarks. These include the Hochzeitsplatz near Obermarbach, the Jaudusplatz on Kreuzberg and the Sollerner Friedensplatz. Hiking and cycling at your own pace

Seven varied hiking trails, between 8 and 13 kilometres long, wind through the area around Petershausen. If you are looking for a shorter route, there is a forest nature trail of approximately 200 metres on the eastern side of town. It lies above the “Über der Glonn” residential area and was created by the Petershausen chapter of Bund Naturschutz. The different trail lengths make it easier to choose between a manageable loop and a longer hike when planning your day.

For a cycle tour, consider the 42-kilometre “Dachauer Oxenweg”. The route follows the tracks of the oxen along the Zeitlbach and through the Glonn Valley. It starts in Tödtenried, passes sights in Altomünster, Markt Indersdorf and Petershausen, and ends in Hohenkammer. This makes it possible to plan a longer tour linking several places. A Klangstein and a place for the community

The Hochzeitshain (wedding grove) lies east of Obermarbach. Residents can plant a fruit tree there for special occasions, such as weddings and christenings. An approximately 1.5-square-metre Klangstein (sound stone) is located nearby. Its vibrations can be heard, felt and seen by striking it. The grove and the sound stone offer another way to explore the surroundings: rather than a long route, the focus here is on a specific place and its special connections.
