Emtmannsberg is a village and municipality in the Upper Franconian district of Bayreuth and belongs to the Weidenberg administrative community.
Emtmannsberg was first mentioned in a document in 1320; further historical forms of the name are recorded for 1324, 1411 and 1436.
The Emtmannsberg estate remained in the possession of the von Künsberg family until 1487, passed to Carl von Stein in 1660 and, after the von Stein family died out in 1739, became part of the Margraviate of Bayreuth.
Emtmannsberg Palace presumably developed from a motte-and-bailey site into a moated castle and is now municipally owned.
