Paths around Affaltrach lead through a landscape where wine and woodland experiences come together. Wine and woodland experiences on foot
The route to the Obersulm Wine Experience Trail is signposted both from the centre of Affaltrach and from the Affaltrach light rail stop. There is a car park at the foot of the trail. Check the local signs and parking situation when you arrive. If you would like to combine two routes, you can join the Woodland Experience Trail and the Wine Experience Trail to make a route of about 4.5 kilometres.
Other sections of the network can also be distinguished by route length and course. The Weinsberg Valley hiking trails WT 2 (“Of Water and Wine”) and WT 20 (“Off to Paradise!”) through WT 26 (“Rauhberg Tour”) run through the Obersulm municipal area. The twelve-kilometre WT 2 starts in Affaltrach, passes through a residential area towards Eschenau and then climbs to Ammertsberg. Check current trail conditions before setting off.
Another short, challenging hiking route starts at Sülzbach station. It crosses fields to near Wimmental and then climbs through vineyards to Rauhberg, passing orchard meadows and a farm café along the way. By comparison, the combined woodland and wine experience trail route is shorter, at about 4.5 kilometres; the twelve-kilometre WT 2 offers a different distance and climbs to Ammertsberg. This lets you plan your hike around your preferred distance and the route described.
Explore the orchard meadow by bike and digitally
There are numerous well-signposted cycling routes around Obersulm and in the Weinsberg Valley, which are also suitable for individual cycling tours. If you are planning to explore by bike, you can first choose a suitable route and check the exact course in advance.
The orchard meadow in the “Unteres Greut” area lies between Affaltrach and Eschenau. It is designed as a digital experience and learning space for all ages. A digital tour on a website lets you enjoy the fruit experience from home, too. If you plan to take this tour, check the website in advance to see whether it is currently available. This digital discovery complements the paths through vineyards and alongside orchard meadows, without requiring a circular route on site.

Affaltrach is the starting point for WT 2 and a landmark for the Wine Experience Trail; the short, challenging route starts at Sülzbach station.
