Circular hikes with different waypoints
A circular route of around 2.5 hours begins at the Oberreichenbach sports ground. It passes the Kohlhütte, the Würzbach sports ground, the Pflanzgartenhütte, the former Havelsburg, the Föhrbrunnenhütte, the Schmierofen, and the Kuchenbrückle before returning to the sports ground. Along the way is the Föhrbrunnen, a spring in the Oberreichenbach forest. A hut there invites visitors to stop and relax. These waypoints give the route its distinctive course; at the Föhrbrunnen, a nature experience and the possibility of taking a break come together.
Another circular hike, also around 2.5 hours long, starts at Oberreichenbach Town Hall. Its waypoints include the Felsenmeer, Oberkollbach, Unterkollbach, and Igelsloch; further waypoints lead back to Oberreichenbach. If you want to plan for a shorter walking time, you can take a shortcut that reduces the duration by about an hour. This route therefore offers a clearly defined longer option and a shorter alternative, without requiring its other waypoints to match those on the sports-ground loop.
Another circular hike, around 2.5 hours long, starts and ends at the Bechergass car park. Along the way are the Heselwasenhütte, Becherberg, Katzensteigle, Brandmiss, and Naislach. Another hiking option is a trail signposted by the Black Forest Association through a Black Forest valley between Oberreichenbach and Hirsau. Oberreichenbach Town Hall or the Löwen inn in Oberreichenbach are named as starting points. This lets you plan your day according to whether you prefer a described loop with a stated duration or this trail between two places.
Cycling routes and winter options
A longer cycling loop is listed as approximately 20.5 kilometres. It starts either at the car park by the church or at Oberreichenbach Town Hall and passes through Altburg, the Würzbacher Kreuz, Würzbach, the Sauerbrunnen, Schmieh, and the Habichtsfang wetland before returning to Oberreichenbach. Another route starts at the Oberreichenbach sports ground. From there, it follows the Eselsträßle past the Habichtsfang biotope and the Kohlhütte, then continues via the Würzbacher Kreuz towards Altburg. When choosing between the two suggestions, you can base your decision on the listed length of the loop or on the waypoints and direction of the second route.
During the winter months, Oberreichenbach’s Sonnenloipen cross-country ski trails are groomed when there is enough snow. The circular trails run through all four districts. The snow condition is explicitly part of the planning here: the trails are an option when there is sufficient snow. This makes the winter options different from the hiking and cycling routes described, for which no such condition is mentioned.
Other places and little discoveries
A boules court has been laid out in Oberreichenbach’s lower village, at the corner of Schulstraße and Brunnenstraße. The Oberreichenbach sports and adventure park is next to the Mößackerhütte. If you are planning excursions beyond Oberreichenbach within the wider destination of Calw, there are other independent destinations to consider: Schömberg’s barefoot park has a course approximately 800 metres long, with more than 20 different materials. Check its seasonal opening times before setting off. In Haiterbach, the nature trail presents information about trees and their leaves, as well as the geology of the quarry, in a child-friendly way. Visitors can also compare the jumping power of animals at the animal long-jump activity. These attractions are in Schömberg and Haiterbach, respectively, and are not features of Oberreichenbach.
