Culture and History in Merzhausen

Since 2012, the FORUM Merzhausen has served as a cultural and civic centre, a meeting place and a venue for the arts, offering a varied cultural programme. Local history also has some tangible points of interest: the manor house at Jesuitenschloss in Merzhausen was built in 1666. Jesuitenschloss is also used as a starting point for numerous hikes. Here, a historic building and a trailhead come together, without requiring a visit to the manor house.

A literary connection leads to Kurt Heynicke. The German writer lived in Merzhausen from 1943 until his death on 18 March 1985; the municipality reviewed and archived his estate. Winegrowing, Markets and Seasonal Events

Hiking Trails and Swimming Pool

The bird trail starts at the information board in the village centre, at the Rondell Dardilly. The trail conditions are important to consider when planning your walk: the narrow path through Hagste Wood has steep ascents and descents, so it is not suitable for pushchairs. If you are travelling with a pushchair, bear this in mind. Another hiking option in the vicinity is the approximately 10 km-long Hexental Adventure Trail. It follows a historic route from Au to Bollschweil.

For a different kind of activity, there is the BürgerBad in Merzhausen. Its swimming pool measures 12 by 25 metres and includes both swimming and non-swimming areas. Check with the operator for the latest details on public access. This allows you to include the swimming pool in your plans without assuming a particular opening or access status.
